Genalex Gold Lion ECC83/B759 Paired Quintet
Genalex Gold Lion ECC83/B759 Paired Quintet
The Genalex Gold Lion ECC83/B759 Paired Quintet is a set of five carefully matched double triodes for high‑end audio applications. It is intended for preamplifiers, phono stages, cathode followers and phase inverters in hi‑fi and guitar amplifiers.
Technical characteristics (tubes):
- Type: Double triode, ECC83/12AX7/B759 (noval, 9-pin)
- Gain factor (μ): ≈100; Transconductance (gm): ≈1.6 mA/V; Internal resistance (rp): ≈62 kΩ
- Heating: 6.3 V/300 mA or 12.6 V/150 mA
- Max. anode voltage: ≈300 V; Max. anode dissipation: ≈1.0 W per triode
- Equivalents/Compatibility: 12AX7, ECC83, 7025 (low-noise)
- Construction: gold-plated pins, low noise, selected and paired sections
- Pairing: quintet matched by anode current and gm for channel symmetry
Sound characteristics: Neutral-warm signature with precise, grain-free highs, pronounced mid-range articulation and controlled, tight bass. Good dynamics at low signals, low microphonics and low self-noise suitable for phono and line preamplification.
Compatibility and application: Direct replacement for 12AX7/ECC83 in hi‑fi preamplifiers and integrated tube amplifiers (eg Audio Research, PrimaLuna, McIntosh, Marantz, Leben), as well as in guitar amplifiers (Fender, Marshall, Vox, Mesa/Boogie) in the role of V1/V2, phono input, tone stack drive or phase inverter. Suitable for systems with output tubes EL34, 6L6, KT77, KT88 etc.
Condition and maintenance: Used, excellent; lampmeter tested, no noticeable microphonics or noise, sections balanced, quintet matched. Recommendation: gradual heating, avoid vibrations, periodically check operation in critical positions (eg phono). Store in a dry environment; replacement is plug-and-play, no special calibration required.
